Day 1 - Dubrovnik - Korčula
Departure at 1 p.m. towards Korčula, an island known as the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Enjoy a swim stop and lunch on board. Korčula Town is referred to as “mini Dubrovnik” because medieval stone ramparts and towers encase it. Sightseeing with a local guide through the old town and tiny streets, built in a fishbone pattern for reasons you will hear about during the guided tour. Experience the local taverns, restaurants, and cool cocktail bars to take a break. Overnight in Korčula. (L)
Day 2 - Korčula - Metković
Today, discover one of the last remaining wetland deltas in Europe. Cruise to Metković, on the banks of the river Neretva after which the delta is named. Here, mandarins grow by the water channels. Take a barge to explore the groves, wild birds, and the traditional way of life of the people of Neretva. There is a delightful “time warp” feeling like nowhere else on the coast. Experience where the ancient Illyrians, Greeks, and Romans once sailed. You will visit the Narona archaeological museum in Vid, the first Croatian “in situ” museum exhibiting the remains of a Roman temple. Captain’s dinner with live entertainment on board is scheduled for this evening. Overnight in Metković. (B, L, CD)
Day 3 - Metković - Split
From Metković, the cruise continues toward Split, the capital of Dalmatia and the second-largest city in Croatia. This city is built around the famous Diocletian’s palace, a UNESCO Heritage site chosen by the Roman Emperor Diocletian as a retirement spot! Upon arrival, a local guide will take you for a walk through the historic old town center. Overnight in Split. (B, L)
Day 4 - Split - Krka Waterfalls - Šibenik
Wine and waterfalls! Cruise towards Skradin, then board the bus for the first stop. Visit a local winery for wine tasting and light tapas lunch. Back in Skradin, hike through the Krka Waterfalls National Park and visit “Skradinski Buk.” Jaw- droppingly beautiful, this is the most popular of the Krka waterfalls. There are 17 waterfalls, with cascades up to 100m wide. The afternoon destination is Šibenik, a city in the central part of Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Explore the glorious old town, cultural monuments, and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral of St James. Wander the stone-paved streets and seafront while enjoying dinner on the ship in the evening. Overnight in Šibenik. (B, T, D)
Day 5 - Šibenik - Zadar
After breakfast, leave for Zadar, the oldest university town in Croatia. History is seen at every glance including the Roman Forum from the 1st Century and St. Donat church from the 9th century. The most famous medieval basilica and the city’s symbol. The mighty city walls encase the old town and boast a representative City Gate from the 16th century. On the seafront, the award-winning Sea Organ and “Greeting to the Sun” light installation show the funky side of Zadar. Overnight in Zadar. (B, L)
Day 6 - Zadar - Rab
Departure towards Rab, known as the “island of love” and the old town which carries the same name. Guided city tour including its medieval walls and famous four towers (perhaps climb one of them later if you wish) together with palaces, churches, and squares. There is a slight ‘Montmartre’ feel with many artists painting and exhibiting their work on the streets. Legend has it that local nuns created a special Rab cake for a visiting Pope, which you will sample after the tour. However, the recipe always remains a secret! Overnight in Rab. (B, L, T)
Day 7 - Rab - Opatija
The famous Opatija Riviera is often compared to the French Riviera with its landscape and incredible views from the sea. Royal families, celebrities, and musicians have visited and stayed in Opatija. Your guide will tell you about Opatija’s glorious history and most precious monuments. Walk the famous Franz Joseph promenade, Lungomare, to the fishermen’s village of Volosko. Home to some of the best seafood restaurants in Croatia, or enjoy Kraš Choco bar to try exclusive chocolate cocktails, cakes, or ice cream. There is a real café society here. Overnight in the port of Opatija. (B, L)
Day 8 - Opatija
